In order to commemorate the hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of Jhaverchand Kalidas Meghani- the famous man of Gujarati letters, Departments of Gujarati in association with that of library jointly organized a programme of “Meghani-vandana”. As part of this, three different programmes were carried out between August 27 to September 01, 2021. In the very opening programme of the on-line quiz as many as three hundred and forty five participants took part enthusiastically. In the second programme all the books of Meghani literature, written or collected-edited from the general masses by the ” Rashtriya Shayar” were taken as part of Book-exhibition and the photo gallery of Meghani was also included. During this programme DR D.M.Vaghela of the Dept. of Gujarati informed the gathering about the different aspects of literature produced or collected-edited by Meghani ji. The third programme as part of the initiative taken by the Office of the Commissioner, Higher Education, Government of Gujarat and HNGU, Patan was that of singing the heroic songs of patriotism and folk songs composed and collected-edited by Meghani ji . In this programme too, students zealously participated through singing or reciting the songs in relevance to the programme. The three numbers declared as the first three rank-holders were- Bhavika Raval, Ranjan Thakor and Komal Raval respectively. The duties of the judges of the competition was carried out by DR T.D.Taval and DR T.R.Pandya. Dr. D.M.Vaghela informed the gathering about the different interesting aspects about the literature produced and collected-edited by Shree Meghani ji . DR R.D.Vaghela, HoD, Gujarati Dept., too delivered an interesting lecture about the contribution of Shree Meghani in the collection of folk literature of Gujarat. This entire programme was carried out under the guidance of Principal Dr. G.C. Barot. College-librarian DR.N.P.Prajapati expressed the vote of thanks for the contribution in all the three aspects of the said programme.
