- The department was established in 1997.
- The Department of Gujarati has been working actively since last 22 years in imparting education to students at Graduate Level.
- The Department was headed Principal C.P.Patel during the first year. Since then it is being headed by Assistant Prof. Dr. Rajendrasinh D.Vaghela. Assistant Prof. Dr. Dharmendrasinh M. Vaghela has been, serving in the department since 2004. It is the proud privilege of the Gujarati Department that two teachers have Ph.D. Degrees and all are actively engaged in research.

- To create among our students awareness for speaking pure Gujarati, free from regional variants.

- To offer curriculum nurturing cultural and human values in society
- To develop LSRW in Gujarati language
- To preserve the Mother Tongue through proper teaching of it
Vision
- Gujarati is one of the languages scheduled in the constitution of India, so the spread the knowledge of Gujarati will be our prime vision.
- Gujarati is the language of 07crore people of Gujarat. The dissemination of Gujarati is undoubtedly easy as it is the mother-tongue of the Gujarati community, but the speaking of Gujarati is not free from local impurities. So our vision is that of establishing Gujarati without local impurity.
- As society has become progressively more urban, speaking correct Gujarati has been assumed as increasingly important role in day-to-day human life in cities. So our vision will be to spread urban Gujarati language.
