DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Introduction

  • English is an international auxiliary language. It serves as a link-language all over the world. Nima Girls Arts College, Gozaria has kept the English language as special subject only because the area under the district of Mehsana is believed to have been lagging behind so far as English-awareness is concerned. In addition to that, from this part of Gujarat has a number of families having their relatives settled abroad where English comes handy in communication.
  •  The Department of English has been working actively for last 22 years in imparting education to students at Graduate Level. The Department was headed by Mrs. Bijal Patel from 1997-99. Principal Ravindra Pal Singh Rana from January 01, 2002 to November 30, 2003.
  • Since then Assistant Prof. Dr. Tarunkumar D.Raval has been heading the Department. Assistant Prof. Dr. Tusharkumar R.Pandya has been, serving in the department since 2005. It is the proud privilege of the English Department that two teachers have Ph.D. Degrees and all are actively engaged in research.

Mission

  • To create among students awareness of English as an international auxiliary language. To create among students awareness of English communicative skills. To develop among our students required skills of LSRW.
  • To enhance the role of English as a compulsory paper in most of the competitive exams. To establish suitable English manners in students in accordance with the local circumstances. Overall development of personality of students.
  • To create among our students awareness for speaking pure English, free from regional variants.

Vision

  • English is one of the languages scheduled in the constitution of India, so the spread the knowledge of Gujarati will be our prime vision.
  • English is the language of 07crore people of Gujarat. The dissemination of English is undoubtedly easy as it is the mother-tongue of the Gujarati community, but the speaking of English is not free from local impurities. So our vision is that of establishing the prevalence of English without local impurity.
  • As society has become progressively more urban, speaking correct Gujarati has been assumed as increasingly important responsibility in day-to-day human life in cities. So our vision will be to spread urban Gujarati language.

Objectives

To offer curriculum nurturing cultural and human values in society.

  • To develop the LSRW skills in English language.
  • To increase the usage of English in day-to-day activities without hampering the growth of mother tongue and national tongue
